The New Coffee Producer: A Purpose-Driven Entrepreneur

“If we don’t change our mentality now, we never will.”

— Roel, Producer | San Ramón, Lempira

The Shift Begins in the Mind

In Episode 2 of Voices of Origin, we explore how Roel & Nahum, producers from San Ramón, Honduras, are shifting his mindset and finances — building a long-term, monthly cash flow model with Mythoz. This is what origin empowerment looks like.

It’s no longer just about coffee varietals or shade management. It’s about breaking generational patterns.

Roel speaks honestly about the mental rewiring required to transition from a traditional producer to an empowered entrepreneur.

“Even my mom still questions what I do,” he says. “But if we don’t shift our mindset now, we never will.”

This is the kind of change that doesn’t happen in a harvest — it happens over years. Five, at least.

Coffee with a Business Plan

The conversation turns to cash flow — the quiet lifeblood of sustainable farming.

Roel has begun to implement a system:

  • Holding back a portion of his harvest

  • Dividing inventory into product tiers

  • Selling monthly to create predictable income

  • Reinforcing his working capital with recurring internal investment

This isn’t theory.

“I’ve already done the experiment,” he says.

And it’s working.

Partnership That Powers the Shift

Mythoz doesn’t just buy coffee. We help co-build producer-led systems — and pay higher-than-local prices to support it.

Together with Roel, we’ve designed a financial plan that allows him to manage:

  • Harvest-based inventory segmentation

  • Long-term price optimization

  • Cash flow aligned to his farm’s actual needs

This is what traceability means to us:

Not just knowing the farm, but building with it.

💬  Why It Matters

This isn’t charity.

It’s co-creation.

It’s a new model for how origin, buyer, and business can collaborate — with dignity, data, and dreams.

We’re honored to walk alongside Roel and producers like him as they rewrite what it means to be a farmer in the specialty coffee world.
